The state quarter series is rich in educational historical elements. Excellent historically relevant artwork is depicted on each coin in the series. The first issue was the Delaware State Quarter. People most often refer to the human subject on horseback depicted on the reverse side of the coin as "Paul Revere". Remember to correct those who make such claims! The patriot on horseback is Caesar Rodney. Caesar Rodney made a very long and dangerous journey on horseback, at a fast pace, at the age of 70 years (give or take a year or 2) during a storm, through high waters and mud, to cast the deciding vote in the Continental Congress to set forth documents declaring our nations independance from English rule.

Much more educational information discussing the subjects of design within the artwork in the State Quarters series will be posted here in the near future.
